ncrainbowgrrl replied to your post: Grief. Big Big Big hugs. Be good to yourself. Don’t feel badly if you haven’t cried. We all grieve in our own ways… sometimes cry when least expected. But it’s clear you’re hurting, and don’t feel badly that you’re not doing it in some “prescribed way.” Thank you <3 I started to process a bit tonight when I went to a Panachida (a memorial service) at his...

Grief.
“There really is no catch-all defined way for people to grieve, is there?” As most of you know, I’ve been dealing with the death of a close family friend. And grief manifests itself in many ways. In my case, it takes a long time to manifest itself. I’m not an overly emotional person; that’s not to say that I’m cold, it’s just that being raised a...

Curse the migraine not the mind
arabellaivy: Let the veins protrude from my aching skull As my brain pivots in mindless dance Prove that the pulsing pain is mind over matter Stay still Turn from the light that burns your inner core Scream silently into your sheets Don’t move because that gives it power Don’t speak Don’t breathe too heavily Feel the pain That’s all you can do Run from your self absorbed thoughts ...

thatmword replied to your post: Eternal Memory + Fr Michael Rosco! So sorry for your loss Rachel. Will keep his family in my prayers. Thank you Emily. I’m still very numb and in shock, so I still haven’t really reacted to it or been able to process it. I appreciate the prayers for his family though. Thank you so much.

Eternal Memory + Fr Michael Rosco!
Early this morning, Fr. Michael Rosco passed into eternal life after complications from a car accident on Friday afternoon. There is very little information available right now, but I want to thank all of you who kept Fr. Michael in your thoughts and prayers these past few days. Please continue to think of Pani Susan, Vlad, and their family as they go through this trying time. Eternal Memory!

caper: Prayer Request - Update →
rpeeze: I just got an update about Fr. Michael and unfortunately the prognosis is not good. Today they discovered that Fr. Michael is bleeding internally and they now don’t think that it looks good. They called his son (who stayed in NJ to watch the house and the dog) to come out to Johnstown. They tried… Please continue to keep Fr. Michael and his family in your prayers. His O2 stats...

Auras.
So as I’ve mentioned before, I occasionally get auras before my migraines. When I do experience an aura, it’s usually accompanied by what I’ve described as a Flash Migraine (see this post). But the more I read about auras, the more I realize how incredibly highly individualized even this rare part of a migraine attack is. If you look “migraine aura” up on Google...

So I got back the results of my allergy panel.
And guess who doesn’t have allergies? That’s right. The girl who has been on prescription allergy medication for her seasonal allergies for as long as she can remember apparently has no allergies. Now I know that this wouldn’t have tested EVERY single thing that I could be allergic to (e.g. I’m allergic to pineapples. There’s no way around it. I cannot eat fresh pineapple without my mouth...

Today has been a good day!
It’s Easter for me, so I went to Liturgy this morning and got to see lots of people. The Pascha Liturgy is among my favorites, and I always take a video of my father reading the Gospel because it’s in both English and Greek on Pascha. (Some churches do it in other languages too I’m sure). It’s my favorite Gospel reading. And I got to see friends who were home from school...

Christ is Risen! Christos Voskrese! Christos...
Hey all! I’m sorry that I’ve been missing a bit this week, but it has been Holy Week for me, which means LOTS of church. As an Orthodox Christian, I celebrate Easter (Pascha) tomorrow, and tonight we had Resurrection Matins, so I can officially say Christ is Risen! I’m a cantor in my church, so I’ve been doing a lot of singing as well. (Being up in the choir loft also...

I went to bed last night with the assistance of some medication for my headache… And an ice pack. I woke up around 6:30AM, and switched out my icepack. But I didn’t take any more medication because I knew that I had work at 10AM. So here I am, sipping on a cup of coffee, still feeling awful, but ready to go to work (It take me about 5 minutes to get there…) I only have two...

Day 30 - Recap
Describe your HAWMC experience in one word! Eye-opening   …It counts as one word if it’s hyphenated, right? This experience has been a total eye opener for me. I’ve connected with new people and gotten to know the people I’ve been in touch with even more. I'm going for an allergy test tomorrow...
and if it turns out to be another blood test instead of a scratch/skin test, I’m probably going to throw something. We all know Health Activists are awesome. Share three things you love about yourself, things you’re great at, or just want to share. Don’t undercut or signpost!
