Running feedback
Thanks for the feedback about my running shoes questions!
I think that for now I’m going to stick with my trusted shoes that have been worn in, but I’m going to look into going to a running store and getting my feet measured and all so that I’m wearing shoes that are really fitted to my foot and my stride.
I figure that for the first week or two when I’m doing more...

Running question
so as I’ve stated, I’m taking up running during Lent. It’s a habit that I plan on continuing after Lent, but this is as good a time as any to start.
In any case, I currently have a pair of sneakers that I’m comfortable in and will be okay in for the first few weeks as the plan I’m working with alternates intervals of walking and running.
However, I know I need...

Flash Migraine.
It’s like a flash mob, but with a migraine.
I was sitting in my Computer Tech for the SLP class tonight and about halfway through, I started to get a dull ache in my head. It was one of those aches that I could tell would turn into something much worse if I didn’t get to take medication soon.
Problem.
There was still an hour and a half left in my class (granted, we thankfully get...

Oh and I had my audition tonight...
It went a lot better than I was thinking it would, but I’m still not getting my hopes up about it.
I was happy with how I sang (I settled on “A Quiet Thing” from Flora the Red Menace) and was pleasantly surprised at the dancing section. I have limited dance experience, but there was tap worked into the combination, and that’s one of the few kinds of classes I’ve...

So Lent is coming up...
I’m an Orthodox Christian, so I don’t partake in Ash Wednesday. Lent for me starts on February 27th, and Eastern Orthodox Easter (or Pascha as we tend to call it) is a week after Western Rite Christianity’s Easter.
Why?
In the Western Church, there are only three determining factors for the date of Easter:
The First Sunday, after the first full moon, after the spring equinox.

a couple fit gems: Benefits of Yoga →
fit-gems:
My personal favorite things about yoga: reduces pain in my back, calms me down, improves my posture, improves my strength and flexibility, and makes me feel long and lean. I also appreciate the fact that many athletes these days are reaping the benefits of yoga as well! Hellooooo football players…

Someone got a new computer
and that someone is me.
So after some fiddling and mental breakdowns and anxiety over the fact that my desktop hard drive crashed and everything was COMPLETELY GONE, I got a laptop today. A MacBook to be more specific. I had been using an iMac for the past few years, so I’ve gotten used to Macs, and my external hard drive is already formatted for one.
I’ve been catching up on shows...

I have been completely MIA for a few days!
Sorry about that!
First off, my computer and I were in a fight. I had to re-run the start up discs today (I had to get them back from my brother-in-law)… So now I’m back.
Then I had the joy of cramps. I get them really bad when it’s around that time. I usually get headaches at this time as well, though they (thankfully) don’t always turn into migraines.
I was diagnosed...

Starting to feel better...
as in I’m actually eating something this morning. I’ve been sitting in bed watching Doctor Who and eating a bowl of granola.
I’m feeling better this morning. Not well enough to go to my dance class, but well enough to sit up and eat something, which I haven’t been able to do in awhile. I mean, I was eating on the days that I haven’t felt well, but not much, and not...

Day 2 of the migraine that wouldn't stop...
Truthfully, it started on Sunday and I had been feeling crappy since Friday, but I had a pre-migraine then.
I’ve been noticing that trend. When a migraine is coming on, in the days before I feel achy and generally unwell. Then I start to get a headache and it usually ends up going away and I think I’m in the clear.
But then it comes back with a vengeance.
It’s like my own form...

Sooooooo...
I got my tissue typing report from Be The Match today, and I would like to say that the statistic that 1 in 4 siblings will be a tissue match is FALSE.
I have the same A and B tissue typings as all of my sisters. No one matches my brother. We’re all A-3, B-7 and A-3, B-35. He has the same first one, but the second is A-2, B-29 I believe.
HLA statistics don’t apply to my family...

Okay, I need to just complain for a second.
Why is it that when (almost) anyone else in my house isn’t feeling well, the world has to stop and no one can ask them to do anything?
Yet, when I’m not feeling well and am trying to make myself some soup, I somehow get handed my 2 year old nephew by my sister (not my nephew’s mom) who says “I need to get ready to go to the doctor. You need to watch him.”
This is...

Also, for about the past week...
my stomach has been almost CONSTANTLY upset.
Like gurgling all the time (for lack of a better onomatopoeia) and never really settled. I haven’t been eating as much as I usually do because I almost always feel full. And I sometimes wake up in the morning and feel like the food I had for dinner the night before is still sitting in my stomach, not fully digested.
Possible TMI moment: When I...

I am not a fan of today...
No classes for me today because I have a headache that I’m desperately trying to prevent from developing into a migraine, along with a runny nose and draining sinuses.
So I’ve been drinking herbal tea and lying in bed watching episodes of Doctor Who.
This would be nice and relaxing if it weren’t for the whole “sick” thing.

Things I've learned in my short time doing yoga:
1) I’ve always underestimated the power of relaxation
2) Meditation actually helps
3) I have much better balance than I originally though.
4) I have much more flexibility than I thought (though I’m still not very flexible)
5) One of the best feelings in the world is that deep muscle ache the day after you do yoga. It proves you did something, and it makes me feel like that stress...

So I am REALLY excited...
about something that’s related to chronic/invisible illnesses, but not to mine.
Here’s some background:
I’m the youngest of six children, and when my brother (who was born third) was three years old, he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. He went through heavy chemotherapy and radiation to his central nervous system, because at this point (I’m not 100% sure how...

Today was one of those days...
where I marveled at the fact that I was able to make it through the day.
Every time I do some kind of exercise, whether it be my yoga or dance class or going for a walk, jog, or bike ride, or doing Pilates or whatever it may be, I know that I’m going to feel a ton better afterward. Getting my dupa up and actually DOING the activity is the most challenging part though.
I know that physical...

February 1st...
is probably not going to be a great day for me.
I’m still awake at 3:28AM (The time of starting this entry) after a day that started out pretty well, but ended not so great.
I had my Yoga class today, and was excited because my professor gave me a handout with poses that are recommended for migraine sufferers. She told me that she would go over individual poses with me if we hadn’t...
