// Day 9 - Social//

Write about your favorite social network. Do you love Twitter? Facebook? Pinterest? Why?

(I’m using this prompt because the prompts for day are about caregiving. I don’t have children with conditions, or children in general. I’m also not a caregiver, nor am I sure what I would say to a caregiver. So I’m skipping ahead to an extra prompt!)

I use all three of these social networks actually, and love them all!

I love twitter for its simplicity. I can converse with people, but don’t feel the need to explain myself. I can be a bit vague and can just share everyday observances with people. I sometimes get in “one-liner” moods, and Twitter is the perfect place for that. I also love the ease of finding others with the same interests or those who are talking about the same thing you are. I’m still getting the hang of hashtags, but I love it.

For me, Facebook is used more to keep up with friends. I use it to catch up with people and keep them posted on what’s going on in my life. I’m certain that if it weren’t for Facebook, I’d be getting lots and lots of phone calls about my Grad School decisions (I think I’ve made one, but I’m going to wait until I get home on Wednesday to make an official decision). I also think it’s a great place to share information and to share funny and inspiring things with all different people.

Pinterest is something that I’m still getting the hang of. However, I love it. I love crafting and have gotten some great ideas from Pinterest. (One of my nieces has been taking a ballet class and loves legwarmers. I found a way to make them out of a pair of knee high socks on Pinterest! Love it!) It’s a great place to find not only directions for how to do crafts that others have done, but it also provides inspiration for new ideas. Other than this, it allows you to inspire others by letting you share your work. I think that it’s a great place for the creative exchange of ideas. (I’ve actually used Pinterest to find some great yoga and migraine relief stuff as well!)

I obviously use Tumblr a lot as well. I have a journal that I write in on a (semi-) regular basis, but sometimes it’s nice to find a graphic that makes you smile or an audio clip that makes you laugh, or to find other people who lament about the same basketball team losing. If it weren’t for Tumblr, I wouldn’t have found a great online support community for migraines!

// I have not had much luck with my head the past few days.//

I started to get a headache at work on Sunday night and by the time I got home, it was a pretty killer one.

And I wasn’t able to sleep, which didn’t help at all.

So I stayed up and took a Relpax, and not even that helped me fall asleep.

I had no intention of going to my classes on Monday, except that the e-mail response I got from my first professor made it seem like if I wasn’t in class, my group was gonna get screwed over (we’re doing our end of semester presentations and my group is scheduled to go NEXT week, but we’re all critiquing the other presentations), so I showed up. In warm clothes with sunglasses on. There was an empty chair next to me and my professor sat down in it to watch the presentations, put her hand on my shoulder and said,

“Oh sweetie! You didn’t have to come to class! You’re sick, I’m sorry if you misunderstood me, but you don’t have to be here!”

I just looked at her like:

And was like “It’s no problem. As long as you don’t mind me having my sunglasses on, I can stay.”

So I stayed and critiqued two of the presentations.

My group was going to meet to go over our powerpoint and put our paper together but the other two girls were like “Will you PLEASE go home? We can meet on Thursday.”

So I went home.

And I checked my e-mail where I had a message from my Psych professor in response to saying I had a migraine and wouldn’t be in class saying:

“…The final test is tonight. Will you be in class?”

And I was like:

because I thought that the test was next week. So I was like “I’ll be there”.

Then I crammed for an hour and went to class. Thankfully the test was only 25 questions long and had a bonus question that I knew the answer to. Then I came home and was asleep by 10. (Psych was a 4:30 class).

Today, I slept a whole bunch more because it was storming out and that was pretty much the root of my headache problem. Between that, my erratic sleep schedule as of late, and lots of stress, I’ve been a mess.

Anyway, I went to work today where I had a ridiculous day (both good and bad) even though I still had a headache and am now waiting for my meds to kick in so I can finally sleep in peace. I’ve gotten to the point where I took a Percocet to hopefully break the migraine.

Thankfully, my 9:30AM dance class was cancelled for tomorrow morning, so the only thing I have to worry about is work at 4. I’ll probably have to watch my niece & nephew at around 2 when my mom has to go to the doctor’s, but that (hopefully) won’t be a problem.

I also got an e-mail that informed me that the test I had no idea was going on has already been graded and I somehow pulled a 112 with an hour of studying and a migraine

As for now, I’m going to read a bit more and then go to sleep. Reading relaxes me and I can somehow read with a headache.
